About This Mission Grant

Lutheran Valley Retreat (LVR) shares both God’s grace and the glory of His creation. Many families in metropolitan Denver are unable to fully finance camp tuition or provide transportation to LVR where their children would experience God’s Word in daily devotions, singing, and worshipping around a campfire. This grant will span two summers when LVR will partner with Lutheran churches in Denver to arrange sign-up, transportation, and scholarships for 50 children from the inner city, so they could have this mountain-top camp experience. Research shows that the challenges of camp activities are transformational, giving children tools to overcome real-world challenges when they return home.

1 John 4:19 We love because He first loved us.

LVR strives to share God's grace and glory in His creation. In the forest, away from daily life and cell phone coverage or other technology distractions, campers get to connect with God and each other.

From Isaiah 35:4 Say to those with fearful hearts, "Be strong, do not fear, your God will come, he will come with vengeance, with divine retribution He will come to save you."

Campers at LVR get face challenges like rock climbing at camp. After working through these trials, they have another opportunity to affirm that they can do all thing through Christ who gives them strength.

Isaiah 40:31 Even youth grow weary, and young men stumble and fall, but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles.

This camper is flying down the LVR handicap accessible zip-line. Even adult campers with disabilities get to soar through God's creation!

Psalm 68:3 May the righteous be glad and rejoice before God; may they be happy and joyful.

LVR uses fun activities as a way to build relationship with the counselors and campers so that the gospel may be shared. Thank you for considering providing an opportunity for LVR to transport more children from the city to hear the best news about their Creator — He LOVES them so much that He sent His son to the earth so that by believing in Him, they may have eternal life.

Proverbs 8:20 I will walk in the way of righteousness, along the paths of justice.

Whether a horse back ride or a hike on foot, campers at LVR get to enjoy trails — not something children from cities are suburbs in this technological age do as much as generations past.

From Psalm 23:3-4 Who may stand in the Lord's holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart.

While campers do take home more than a little dust from their week at LVR, what a refreshing treat to ride down the hill on a giant slip and slide!

Psalm 119:115 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

While at LVR, campers experience God's word in daily devotions, singing praise songs with actions, creating and watching skits based the Bible, and worshipping around a campfire.
