Whatever … Keeping Your Heart in Tune with Whatever Life Brings — Teen's Edition

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me — practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you (Philippians 4:8–9).

"Whatever … Keeping Your Heart in Tune with Whatever Life Brings" takes a six-lesson look at Philippians 4:8–9. Each lesson contains Bible study, personal reflection and practical ideas to incorporate into your life. Designed as a group study, it can also be used as an individual study.

Lesson One: Whatever is True … Allowing God’s truth to humble our hearts and live in awe of Him and His counsel and grace.
Lesson Two: Whatever is Noble, Whatever is Right … Considering Whose voice will influence and guide our daily lives.
Lesson Three: Whatever is Pure … Inviting God to recreate purity on a daily basis.
Lesson Four: Whatever is Lovely … Cultivating a beautiful spirit.
Lesson Five: Whatever is Admirable … Looking to women who are living life well.
Lesson Six: Whatever is Excellent or Praiseworthy … Praising our excellent God in good and hard times.
Epilogue: Continuing the process and putting into practice … (Philippians 4:9). Engaging my heart and mind in the things of God after the study is complete.

Focus Lost … Focus Restored

Bible Study on Relationship with God, 14 sessions. 24 pages. By Rev. John Heckmann. Leader Guide available.

Focus Lost … Focus Restored

Depending on the situation, focus may vary, but our challenge as a Christian who is “simul iustus et peccator” (simultaneously [at the same time] saint and sinner) is staying focused on the things which God our Heavenly Father would have us focus. We see this various times throughout the Old and New Testament as God’s children lose sight of the opportunities He gives them to serve, and then, in His grace, God restores their focus.

Focus Lost … Focus Restored deals with 14 biblical personalities and examples of times when they lost their focus and when their focus was restored by God. Each biblical personality could be studied in 30 to 45 minutes with discussion included.

The study could be used as an ongoing lunchtime study or one or two sections as part of an LWML meeting. Each biblical personality could be studied by an individual who might desire to do one personality a day. Its uses are varied and can be easily adapted to fit the needs of an individual or group.

Lesson One: Adam and Eve
Lesson Two: Cain and Abel
Lesson Three: Noah
Lesson Four: Abram/Abraham
Lesson Five: Saul
Lesson Six: David
Lesson Seven: Solomon
Lesson Eight: Elijah
Lesson Nine: Jonah
Lesson Ten: John the Baptist
Lesson Eleven: Peter
Lesson Twelve: Saul/Paul
Lesson Thirteen: Family of Jesus/James

At Table with Jesus

Bible Study on Relationship with God, 7 sessions. 43 pages. By Rev. Kris Whitby. Leader Guide available.

At meals, much more can happen than the mere consuming of food. Around the table, as friends and family gather for a meal, relationships can be deepened, special occasions celebrated, important life matters can be discussed. In short, life is often shared over a meal.

Many significant things happened over a meal during Jesus' earthly ministry. "At Table with Jesus" invites us to journey into the Scriptures and take a seat around the meal table where Jesus dines. May the Holy Spirit use this study to deepen our understanding of what grace our Savior extends to those who get to dine with Him, and how He continues to set a place for us to be nurtured by Him.

Lesson One: A Covenant Confirmed
Lesson Two: Meals that Bless
Lesson Three: The Abundant Provider
Lesson Four: Anointed by a Sinner, Forgiven by the Savior
Lesson Five: The Humble, Heavenly Banquet
Lesson Six: Burning Hearts and Opened Eyes
Lesson Seven: A Meal for the Lost
