Fall 2025 — Stir Up One Another
in Love and Good Works
Editor's Note
What do you think when you read, And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works … (Hebrews 10:24)? Is it, “I encouraged three women to work with me on this month’s mission project;” “Ok, God, I know You’re nudging me again to get out there and do something;” or “I have that on my calendar to do it next week … next month … next year…”?
God recently showed me that, sometimes, it is just being who He made me to be … at this place … in this time.
In June, many of us experienced the joys of convention: listening to mission speakers, interacting with missionaries, and joining together in Bible study and
worship. All this, and so much more, stirred us up for the next steps of life. I
experienced that with you, but God gave me more.
Upon my arrival at the hotel, the first person who greeted me was Carol, who told me we were now “hug buddies.” Her husband entered eternal life about a year and a half ago. A few minutes later, Kay, whose husband went to heaven about ten years ago, saw me and immediately surrounded me with her arms. After I checked in, I turned around to see and hug Barb, whose husband is also now in God’s presence. As I entered the meeting, other ladies welcomed me with open arms into that club, a group I joined in May when my beloved husband went to be with his Jesus. During convention, many of the leaders and wonderful friends in this sisterhood of Lutheran Women in Mission came to be with me for a moment or a conversation. Just being who I am in this time and place stirred them up to love and to the good works of words of concern and arms of comfort.
We are so blessed by God with marvelous sisterhood and leadership! We share in the joys and sorrows of others in simple ways and, together, work for our Lord in the great task of bringing the lost and the erring into eternal fellowship with Him!
Be stirred by each story God has placed in these pages, and enjoy each moment He gives you as He stirs you up so you, in turn, can stir others and give God all the glory!

SHOW ONE ANOTHER COMPASSION AND MERCY
This is what the Lord Almighty said: ‘Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another’ (Zechariah 7:9).
How does praying for your enemies promote a life of mercy? Do you or someone you know have an occupation or lifestyle through which God shows His overflowing compassion? Police officer? Grandmother? Special needs supporter? A unique ministry?

BLESSINGS IN DISGUISE
As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today (Genesis 50:20).
Share your tears of sorrow and/or tears of joy in your journey. When has God said, “No,” given you reason to practice humility, taught you the difference between happiness and joy, given you reason to rejoice ― even in physical pain or the pain of rejection?
