About This Mission Grant

The mission of Lutherans for Life (LFL) is to renew hearts with the Word of the Lord and to receive every human being as a sister or brother with whom we may share God’s everlasting blessings. Life issues like an unplanned pregnancy or a terminal diagnosis offer us mission moments.

LFL has learned that youth and students gravitate toward activity-oriented involvement and have developed a framework consisting of two elements — namely, pilot events and "event-in-a-box" kits designed to intentionally connect young adults with seasoned local Life Teams, Life Chapters, and LFL pioneers. Participants will learn to conduct life-affirming education and service in their own neighborhoods.

This grant will provide funds to support the outreach effort to young adults to encourage their involvement in LFL Life Teams and Life Chapters.

The sanctity of life is enjoying a higher cultural profile than ever before. This ministry represents a fifty-year effort in the wake of the Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade verdict.

Life issues like surprise pregnancy, terminal diagnoses, biotechnology, and sexuality offer us mission witness moments. In these contexts we can proclaim and practice the Good News: God creates, redeems, and calls every member of our race as His own precious treasure from fertilization to forever.

Many Y4Life alumni and their twenty-something peers are embarking upon their professions and family. They eagerly want to share in new locations the joy they have experienced and the hope they have learned with Y4Life.

The Life Connection Events and Kits mission initiative will bridge the worlds of younger and older adults. It will intentionally connect young adults with our seasoned local Life Teams, Life Chapters, and LFL pioneers.

Four pilot events will invite young adult participants to gather for socializing, education, and activism. The threefold experience will apprentice the attendees for returning to their congregations as ambassadors for witness and catalysts for servanthood.

Every one of these 10,000 hearts reached by the program will not only hear but experience firsthand God's truth and Christ's love explicitly declared and demonstrated via the sanctity of life!

Using the invaluable knowledge gained from the four pilot events, we will prepare a package of field-tested resources for replicating high-impact activities almost anywhere — "events-in-a-box." We will also make the kits available to our legacy Life Chapters and Life Teams, along with other interested volunteers, to energize or rejuvenate their outreach.
