Redeeming Life Maternity Home, Illinois Expansion
2021–2023 Mission Grant 11 — $100,000
Joy with her newborn twins. They were born 10 weeks early and remain in the hospital at the time of this grant submission. They are doing well — just small.Redeeming Life currently operates maternity and transitional homes in Central Florida for single pregnant women who are homeless, abused, and/or at-risk of abortion. It is a proven model. This grant will help Redeeming Life support a called deaconess to serve in a new location in the Chicagoland area. Additionally, the funds will help offset the costs, during the first two years, of operating a safe and stable home (rent, utilities, food) and provide program services for the women to be served. Redeeming Life’s goal is for their residents to learn to live independently and offers many opportunities for the women to understand that, in Christ, there is forgiveness, peace, and unconditional love.

Mercy Medical Care for Tanzania
2021–2023 Mission Grant 12 — $68,182
Chapel at Mwadui Lutheran SchoolMwadui Lutheran School in Shinyanga, Tanzania, has become one of the leading schools in the region with enrollment increasing from 40 to over 200 students. It is educating many new pastors, teachers, and professionals from all over western Tanzania using a curriculum with a Christian world view and daily chapel. This educational facility has become a valuable Christian outreach ministry to the community and region. However, malaria and other health issues continue to be a vexing problem for the students, teachers, staff, and community. The next step in enhancing this educational facility is starting a medical clinic. This grant will purchase medical equipment, medical supplies, and medicine to treat the various illnesses of the student community in the Southeast of Lake Victoria Diocese of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tanzania (SELVD-ELCT).

Missionary Ben Helge, right, leads an English Talk Group as part of his ministry in the Czech Republic. This group meets every Wednesday evening to practice English and to hear the Gospel. The group is open to any high school student, and God continues to send new members to the group, who need to hear the Good News. ETG, as it's often referred to by the students, connects unbelievers to the church plant in Haví?ov-Šumbark.
The interaction between student and teacher is a critical part of the pastoral training program at the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Novosibirsk, Siberia. The seminary has a first-class faculty and as a confessional Lutheran seminary, standards are high. Some faculty members have received their theological education, in part, at Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana, including the seminary rector himself, Rev. Dr. Alexey Streltsov. In describing the rigors of the education provided at the Novosibirsk seminary, Dr. Streltsov describes it as "neither lay discipleship training or short-term leadership preparation, but a serious effort that makes demands upon both teacher and student. After all, the Apostles themselves spent no fewer than three years in the 'seminary' of our Lord Jesus Christ."
The recipients of a care package receive so much joy from receiving the package. They know that a group of individuals who made the care package has just showed them unconditional love. By showing the unconditional love, it opens the door for Phil's Friends to share the Gospel message and God's Word.
