BRRRR!!!! In many parts of our country, it’s COLD outside!
Do you remember the orange drink called “Tang”? Invented in 1957 by chemist William Mitchell, NASA started using it in 1962 during John Glenn’s Mercury flight to improve the taste of the water from the life support system. Tang is still available!
My grandmother and mother used Tang to make one of my favorite childhood beverages — SPICED TEA
1 c. instant tea
20 oz. container of powdered TANG (or other orange drink mix)
1 c. sugar (optional)
2 T. ground cinnamon
2 t. ground cloves
Mix ingredients together. Store in an air-tight container. Stir 2 T. into 1 c. hot water. Enjoy!
Put half a cup of the powdered mixture in a small baggie. Place it and the recipe in a new or re-purposed mug or even a disposable to-go cup. Engage, Encourage and Equip a shut-in, work colleague, classmate, friend or neighbor by sharing a Mustard Seed Devotion, Master’s Card or LWML news — all Enjoyed over a cup of SPICED TEA!

Acts 1:8 - But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
We always have fellowship, a devotion, prayer, and a project during our monthly LWML society meeting. During our fellowship, we make note of the people for whom we’ll pray. For our devotion, we use LWML Mission Grant of the Month resources. We pray the prayer for the Mission Grant and continue with our special petitions. For our project, we strive to do something to help our church family or the community. We close with the Lord’s Prayer while holding hands.
We may be few in number in our meeting, but we know we’re part of the larger whole of LWML and the holy catholic [Christian] church and, with the power of the Holy Spirit, we are indeed reaching “the ends of the earth” with the love of Jesus Christ!

A personal touch is often the best way to show you care.
There are notecards and bookmarks available as free printables on the LWML website, each with four designs to a page. Print, color, cut them apart, and write a note of encouragement on the back. Then include one when taking a meal to a shut-in or send to people on your prayer list. That personal touch is such a gift.
You can involve a Sunday School or Bible class by asking them to color the cards for you. Or print and send them with a box of colored pencils to college students.
A personal touch says you care. The Time is Now to share Christ’s love through your personal touch.

October was Pastor Appreciation Month but we need and appreciate our clergy throughout the year. Take two minutes this week to show your pastor he is valued as he serves Christ in your church.
- A greeting card expressing your gratitude is enough and valued.
- Thanking your pastor for a specific act of kindness, a favorite sermon, or Bible study will bring a smile to his face.
- Let him know you prayed for him. Let him know prayers continue daily.
- Give your pastor well-deserved thanks and encouragement every month. In fact, put it on your calendar!

Want your pastor to be more involved with LWML? I know members of LWML love their pastors, want to support them and have their support as well. I also know that a pastor’s time is finite, and he has to choose wisely how he uses it. If an organization seems to be running smoothly without him, he may think it best to leave it alone!
Show love and kindness and support to your pastor. Send him notes of encouragement. Find ways to help him in his ministry among you. Invite him to be part of your society. Share some of the projects LWML supports locally and through Mission Grants. And when he does attend a society meeting or function, make sure you let him know how much you appreciate his presence and support. Your contagious joy in sharing Jesus will shine through.

Tap, tap, tap. It started with woodpeckers. BANG! BANG! This week it's the noise of reconstruction, repairing the damage done by woodpeckers to the chimney. Next, painters will paint the entire house. Reconstruction is not always pleasant, but results with a new fresh look.
When things are getting a little dull and participation is waning, it may be time to think about "reconstruction" in our LWML group. Trying something new — a different venue and activity might increase interest. Gather in a park for a Bible study. Ask women to pack a picnic lunch, invite some friends, and enjoy God's creation.

The beauty of the Heart to Heart Sisters program of the LWML is that it provides an avenue for women from ethnic congregations to actively participate in the activities and mission of the LWML. Many H2H women come from other countries or ethnic communities, and they enrich the LWML as they share their life stories, ideas, and the ways that they witness to their faith, as they serve in their churches and communities.
Did you know that you can support the H2H Sisters program by helping to identify women leaders from multicultural congregations who can participate in H2H programs in your district and at the Albuquerque convention next summer? Perhaps your LWML can contribute to support H2H women, for whom this truly will be a life-changing experience.
