Interdepartmental Planning Meeting

LWML leadership from across the country convened in St. Louis, Missouri, October 23-25, 2015 for an Interdepartmental Meeting under the theme “Joy in the Journey.” The theme was based on Psalm 16:11a. All committee, task force, and team members set goals, objectives, and action plans for this biennium.

Lutheran Women in Mission always begin their planning sessions with Bible study and prayer. During their time together, those important elements were handled by Pastoral Counselors Rev. Dr. Robert Roegner and Rev. Robert Mundahl while Vice President of Christian Life Eden Keefe ably chaired the work sessions.

Gifts from the Heart ingathering

Mite offerings given throughout the weekend totaled $1,251.64 and will go towards the 2015-2017 Mission Goal. Additionally, more than five boxes of books, magazines, crossword and word search puzzles, and toiletry items were donated to Lutheran Senior Services through a Gifts from the Heart ingathering from all the participants.

The Executive Committee approved the appointment of Ginger Starrett to complete the term of the Recording Secretary after the death of Joy Dougherty. 

President Patti Ross accepted a check for $5,000 designated for the LWML’s 75^th Anniversary from Marilyn Schroeder, LWML Treasurer and former 2015 Convention Chairman. The check was the result of fundraising efforts by Iowa District East and Iowa District West and represents the net of hosting expenses.  All praise to God who so bountifully blessed those efforts.

LWML President Patti Ross encouraged all attendees to reflect and share their “Joy in the Journey” during their service to the Lord and to head home with renewed energy, enthusiasm, and plans for the next two years.
