Welcome to Epiphany … Jan 6, 2019
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it (John 1:5).
For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 4:6).
The above passages point to the light commemorating the manifestation of God to the world through our Savior, Jesus Christ. That’s Epiphany.
A couple other informational pieces about Epiphany:
- Epiphany is celebrated on January 6, marking the end of the Christmas season. Christmas begins on December 25, the day we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and ends on Epiphany, giving us 12 days of Christmas.
- Other names for Epiphany Day are Three Kings Day, Twelfth Day, Theophany, and Little Christmas.
